How to use a Scanner
Posted on June 24, 2008 - Filed Under Computers | Leave a Comment
A scanner is an electronic device that forms a digital representation of an image for inputting in a computer. There are two main types of scanners, the Flatbed and the Sheetfed. Flatbed scanners are used to scan paper, books, photos etc. a Sheetfed scanner can scan only flat things as they have to be inserted inside a slot in the machine to scan it.
Nowadays mostly the flatbed type of scanner is used. Some scanners scan automatically as soon as the document to be scanned is placed inside. Others start only when the Start or Scan button is pressed. Once the software that comes with the scanner is stored in the computer, a Scan icon appears in the screen. If this does not happen, then the start is chosen manually by choosing the file on the desktop and then clicking on “Acquire”.
Before scanning, most of the scanners give the option of seeing a preview of how it would look once it is actually scanned. This helps to know if the document is placed in a correct position before scanning, so that one would not have to waste time on an incorrectly scanned document.
There are also facilities of setting the resolution for scanning. Higher the resolution, greater would be the space occupied in the PC. This depends on the place that scanned document is to be used. The resolution can be set to 100 dpi (dots per inch) for documents to be shown in computer screens. If the document is to be printed with an inkjet printer, then a resolution of 200 dpi is required.
Some scanners have preset options for colour, grey scale etc. Some also offer to change it as per one’s choice. A Grey scale can be used when a pencil sketch is to be scanned. For printed text that does not use different colours, a Line Art is used. If a black text is to be scanned, then it’s better to choose the pre defined settings in the scanner.
Try using all the features in a scanner to know more about each type, as if one feature is not liked, then simply deleting the scanned document would not take much time, whereas this would help one understand the scanner more and also have a bit of fun while working!

Amoxicillin side effects

Contrary to some beliefs, all drugs without any exceptions do in fact have number of side effects, as they don’t just affect the targeted receptor. This can result that although amoxicillin will have the needed effect of stopping the bacterial infection, at the same time it will also interact with the patient’s own body. As antibiotic kills many of the good bacteria, one of the common side effects is diarrhoea. Some patients can become allergic to the drug due to an immune reaction.
Unfortunately side effects of using Amoxicillin can hardly be anticipated. If you feel that you suffer any of side effects or feel that intensity of it is elevates apply to your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine whether it is safe for you to continue taking Allegra.
If you experience any allergic reaction after taking Amoxicillin: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, you should stop taking medication and immediately apply to doctor.
In case if you have any of these serious side effects you should call your doctor at oncee:
- fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
- nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
- diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
- fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
- easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness;
- urinating less than usual or not at all;
- agitation, confusion, unusual thoughts or behavior; or
- seizure (black-out or convulsions).
You can continue taking acyclovir but anyway should talk to your doctor if you have any of the following less serious side effects:
- nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;
- vaginal itching or discharge;
- headache;
- swollen, black, or “hairy” tongue; or
- thrush (white patches or inside your mouth or throat).
Some other minor side effects can also appear. Consult with your doctor about any of them that bother you.
If any of side effects persist or worsen, notify your health care provider or pharmacist promptly.
